Anchor and chain salvage

After a heavy stormy night at the IJmuiden anchorage, the anchor chain of a seagoing vessel had broken. On behalf of the ship owners Doggerland Offshore offshore received the order to salvage the quipment. As soon as the weather conditions allowed an anchor handling tug to mobilised to site.

Since the position was not very well known the anchor had to be located by trial and error. After a few hours trailing a small drag anchor over the seafloor the chain was found. Gently all the chain and the anchor was retrieved.

The equipment was offloaded in Port of Den Helder and transported by truck to the shipyard in Sas van Gent where the vessel was scheduled for a repair docking a week later.
